Today we remember those who have fallen in service to the United States of America. No amount of gratitude, glory, sorrow or honor that I, the living, could express for the dead will be adequate to repay their sacrifice, but I give it in the fullest measure I can because those men and women gave a measure still greater. To their families, who share in that sacrifice, who will touch only the cool granite of a headstone when they reached for their beloved, I offer my grief for their loss and awe for their strength.
